Hi from EJ

Hello, I'm EJ, or Eiji to be accurate.

Finally I'm starting the blog in English for my friends abroad.
For the past one year and a half I have been writing in my mother's tongue in this site and wondering how I could share these wonderful experiences with my friends who have difficulty in reading Japanese language.

Now is the time.

I live in Yamaguchi Prefecture, which is located in the westernmost part of Honshu Island, the largest island in Japan. I am originally from Shizuoka Prefecture that is famous for good quality green tea and Mt. Fuji. I lived in my home town for 18 years and moved to Kyoto, then studied abroad in Colorado for 5 years to get Ph. D. I have been working here in Yamaguchi as a staff of one of national universities, studying and teaching about wild animals.

I have a wife and two kids: a girl and a boy. My daughter is in the 5th grade and my son 3rd grade. It's fun to live with family in rather a countryside.

I will show you how is our life in Japan going. (My family members are also posting, hopefully including my kids.)

Please enjoy.
Oh, by the way, the picture above was taken on Dec. 23, 2006 at Akiyoshi plateau, the largest karst in Japan. We can drive up there within 45 min. from our apartment in Yamaguchi City.
